NAIFA BUFFALO COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY OF SERVICE
SATURDAY, APRIL 12TH 2008
@ St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy
We have been blessed and are fortunate for the living this business
has provided us. As a BAIFA member, you are being called to another
day of service at St. Luke’s to work together as a group of dedicated
professionals; we will be cleaning a home. On Saturday, April 12th
from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. we would appreciate your support. If you
can come to help for even one hour or have a staff member that could
participate or bring the family to open their eyes to the world, your time
will be well spent. Contact Lynn Kuligowski, Community Service
Chairperson (e-mail: Lynn_Kuligowski@glic.com).
To those of you that participated in November 2007, thank you. It
really does feel better to give than to receive. Let’s step in and make a
difference on April 12th!
When St. Luke’s, a proud and beautiful inner city parish closed in
1993, it was a sad day for its parishioners. The neighborhood saw
high crime, violence, drug trafficking, prostitution, and poverty (yes,
right here in America). The neighborhood has improved due to the
good work of people that care.
The Co-Directors of St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy are Norm Paolini and
Amy Betros.
Amy sold her restaurant and Norm took an early retirement and
together, the two, along with a very generous benefactor, raised
enough money to purchase the entire St. Luke’s complex, including the
Church, the convent, the rectory and the school.
On August 1, 1994 St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy was born.
St. Luke’s is run completely by volunteers with the purpose to
· Feed the hungry
· Give drink to the thirsty
· Shelter the Homeless
· Clothe the naked
· Visit the Sick
· Visit the imprisoned
· Bury the dead
Their existence depends on donations as they work toward a full life
for all people, all ages, all cultures, all social statuses & all faiths.
They work to restore human dignity to the lonely, the broken-hearted,
the mentally & physically oppressed.
